EXCLUSIVE, Andrea Zambonin: “Happy with the coach’s trust, I’m looking for a starting place in the Summer Tour” Andrea Zambonin, player of Zebre Parma who is now a staple of the national rugby team, spoke exclusively to the microphones of the sports newspaper News.Superscommesse.it CT Gonzalo Quesada. Second line role, in this interview he spoke about his objectives on the eve of the Summer Tour which took the Azzurri overseas for the matches in Samoa, Tonga and Japan. Andrea, you are on the eve of the Summer Tour: ready? “We worked well in the Eagle retreat and are delighted to have the chance to face prestigious teams such as Samoa, Tonga and Japan. It will be a great emotion for the group and in particular for me. It’s the first overseas tour after the pandemic, so we’re happy about that too. Two summers ago we had always done a summer tour but geographically closer, facing Portugal, Romania and Georgia”. You are now a cornerstone of this national team, what are your short-term goals? “First of all, I am very happy to receive trust from CT Quesada. I’m gaining more and more experience and even in the Six Nations I should have played all the matches if I hadn’t had physical problems. Now I would like to raise the bar: my goal for this Summer Tour would be to play in some games as a starter so I can demonstrate that I am up to these great teams.” After the splendid Six Nations, is there still room for improvement for this group? “I’m sure of this, we are a team with a lot of young people and a lot of potential. I am convinced that this Italy can compete with anyone and certainly still has room for improvement.” Rangers Vicenza, the team that launched you, will also play in the top flight next year due to the change in the championship formula. Do you positively evaluate the expansion to 10 teams and the return of the Italian Cup? “The new promises of our rugby will have the opportunity to show themselves and play with top-level teams. I think they are positive changes for the whole movement.”
