Hot temperatures, and oppressive sultriness. The entire Veneto is hit by a particular wave of torrid heat. The columns of mercury continue to rise, even exceeding 35 degrees and reaching peaks of 40 degrees. The situation will remain so until at least Thursday. The emergency rooms of the territory are recording an increase in accesses, on average of 20 more people per day who suffer from heat strokes. These are mainly elderly people who go out during the hottest hours and have no sense of thirst. They easily become dehydrated and the body cannot regulate itself adequately.
But it’s not just the elderly who are at risk.
Heatstroke manifests itself with weakness, nausea up to disorientation, fainting, acute renal failure and high fever.
We therefore recommend maximum attention and a few small rules to adopt, starting with avoiding exposure to the open air during the hottest hours. Drink a lot and adopt a light diet, wear light clothing and protect yourself from the sun’s rays. It is also important to improve the climate in the home and work environments, and pay attention to the medicines one takes.
