Gourmet Club, the prizes go to Monza and Besana

They were rewarded the participants in 22nd Gastronomic Competition organized by the Gourmet Club of Monza and Brianzathe partnership founded in the 1980s by Ugo Brambilla and Ugo Vaglié (head physician at San Gerardo) so as not to forget the peculiarities of the local gastronomy which risked being overwhelmed by new trends and excessive experimentation.

This edition of the competition was dedicated to Eugenia Volpiwho passed away at the end of last year, who had worked so hard to re-establish the club which, after the death of the two founders, risked disappearing. Passionate about Brianza cuisine and traditions, Volpi had involved some “old” members to give new impetus to the association and return to visiting typical taverns and restaurants to savor the typical dishes of Brianza and, more generally, enhance the activities of our province.

The current president Gisella Ceriello summoned the participants to the Casa del Volontariato and distributed the awards. The boys of Aut Academy they created for the occasion an original mosaic depicting a chef’s hat, a ravioli and a fork.

The first prize was assigned to Via Emilia Monza Osteria Emiliana where the “gourmets” stopped last April. To the second placespaced by just one point, a sign of the high level of the participants, the Cenacle of the Painters of Villa Raverio in Besana Brianza. They also took part in the 2023-2024 edition of the event Hotel Restaurant Rome, Ancient Cascina Zappa, Fossati restaurant, Eggs & Flour, Our Trattoria And Cascina Guasto. Other local businesses offered their culinary and organizational support for the awards evening.
