The eighth edition of Google Camp ended a few days ago, the exclusive event that the Mountain View giant organizes every year in Sicily, bringing together the most influential personalities in the world in the extra-luxury Verdura Resort between Sciacca and Ribera.
Eighth edition more sober than usual
According to Corriere di Sciacca, the 2023 edition was more sober and reserved than in the past. Less space for social appointments and no involvement of external locations, as happened in previous years with evenings and events also in the Valley of the Temples, in Sciacca, Menfi and Ribera.
No external events at the Verdura Resort
Everything took place within the Verdura hotel complex, with the utmost confidentiality to respect the privacy of VIP guests. However, illustrious names were not lacking, such as the president of the ECB Christine Lagarde, while no indiscretion about the other prestigious participants was leaked.
Fewer yachts and VIPs in Sciacca
Compared to previous editions, there were few luxury yachts sighted in the stretch of sea in front of the structure and no VIPs were noticed strolling through the streets of the historic center of Sciacca, as used to happen.
The sobriety of the event, according to the Corriere di Sciacca, would have been dictated by the delicate international moment, with the war in Ukraine and the need to discuss issues such as ecological transition and the role of technology for the future of humanity.
Focus on ecological transition and technology
For a week, the elite of world entrepreneurship, big names in finance and Hollywood stars met in Sicily to discuss new global strategies. But this time with perhaps more subdued tones and greater attention to the delicate geopolitical balance.
Despite this, Google Camp is confirmed as one of the most exclusive events in the world, which since 2012 has catalysed the media attention on Sciacca by attracting high-sounding names from business, politics and the star system. An unmissable appointment for the limited circle of guests, but organized this year with even more discretion than in the past.
