The tender for the Taranto Logistics Plate was blocked by an appeal

There is a new stop for the assignment of the logistics platform of the port of Taranto, an area of 132 thousand square meters intended for the movement of goods, and is due to the exclusion by the Port Authority of the Tecnomec company from participating in the tender. He writes it Puglia newspaperspecifying that the company, led by Carlo Maria Martino, president of Confapi, which had joined Vestas and Iptl Logistica in the race to obtain the concession of the platform, following its exclusion by the port authority, requested the suspension.

The port authority, which was about to appoint the commission for the evaluation of the two previous offers (Vastas and Itpl Logistics), suspended the process following Tecnomec’s appeal and will now have to wait for the TAR’s decision.

Tecnomec, owner of the appeal – it is learned – would be of support to Agromed, a company of the Chamber of Commerce chaired by Vincenzo Cesareo, interested in the platform for its business which has an ambient temperature warehouse and a refrigerated warehouse and which will take care of of processing and transformation of agricultural products. Not being able to use the public funds that come from a resolution of the CIPE to pay rental fees, it can only make investments and has agreed with Tecnomec so that it takes over the entire platform in temporary association with Agromed, then selling it the logistics area . The latter would have paid only in relation to actual use.

Tecnomec Engineering, active in the construction and assembly of industrial plants, from their design and construction to installation and start-up, is not interested in the logistics platform but in the area, which it would use to build, assemble and ship large modules of industrial plants . The company is already operational in Taranto with its own construction site where it carries out final assembly and testing operations for larger systems, equipped with suitable structures and lifting means and, as its website informs, it can build modules of up to 20 meters high thanks to cranes up to 650 tons but on request it can also evaluate larger dimensions. Its shipyard has a surface area of approximately 20,000 square meters and has a 50 meter quay eight meters deep.

Tecnomec’s choice to join Agromed is explained by the need to ‘qualify the project’, given that Agromed is a public company. Agromed also expressed its willingness to accompany Tecnomec’s appeal, which then decided to act alone at the TAR. As for the Agromed project, explains the Apulian newspaper, the company is waiting for Rina Consulting to validate the project for the renovation of the former Miroglio di Castellaneta factory and then proceed with the tender. Agromed holds around 11 million in public funds for its initiative.

As regards the other two companies interested in the area: the Danish company Vestas, a manufacturer of wind turbines with 1,3000 employees between Denmark and Italy, proposed itself again last February (after an initial exclusion) for the logistics platform , once the candidacy of Progetto Internazionale 39 has failed. In addition to asking for the occupation and use of the logistics platform, Vestas, which is building the largest wind turbine in the world in Taranto, would plan some adaptation interventions for the area – modification of the insistent artefacts and systems to make it suitable for its storage and transport activities of finished products, semi-finished products and raw materials relating to the production cycle of wind turbine blades. And in the warehouse at room temperature – claims Vestas – “activities are planned to complete the production process carried out in the warehouse located in the SME area of Taranto”.

The second interested company which expressed its interest at the end of April is the Polish group Iptl Logistics (logistical, terminal and warehousing activities relating to long and oversized steel components, food products and commodities, industrial, palletised, steel and chemical products , for the chemical and agricultural industries, as well as for the car industry) which intends to manage import and export flows of goods on the platform.
