Inspired by an article in the renowned French magazine Bateaux, we compared five models of 35-foot boats, analyzing the prices of the equipped versions including VAT.

We examined five boat models, focusing on their prices and features. The price data was collected by Bateaux magazine, one of the largest nautical publications in France.

The boats included in our analysis are all equipped with the same accessories: sandwich sails, textile rigging and halyards, dolphin striker, safety equipment, bow thruster, teak cockpit, mooring lines, water tank and hose, in addition to ‘still respect.

The models analyzed are: the Sun Odyssey 350, the Oceanis 34.1, the Dufour 37, the Maxus 35 and the Bavaria 34.

We have ordered the prices of the models, including accessories and VAT, from highest to lowest: Dufour 37 €317,200

These prices are the list prices, including the costs of accessories and VAT, and do not include any discounts. Each yard offers different discount policies that vary based on your financial situation.

Analysis of boats, comparison between models

As can be seen between the most expensive model, the Dufour 37, and the least expensive, the Bavaria 34, the price difference is as much as €113,867, more than 50% of the price of the Bavaria 34.

To orient yourself in a choice, therefore, you need to understand what allows a shipyard to have a higher price than that of another model and continue to sell, and that is precisely what we will try to do in this article.
