The Tour de France has always been the jewel in the crown of world cycling, the most iconic, exciting and rich stage race. The total prize money that has been up for grabs for this 2024 is 2.3 million euros (precisely 3,308,200 euros), equal to what was already established in the last edition. In the three weeks of the race, therefore, the “cake” will be divided, with an eye obviously on who will wear the yellow jersey in Nice. But there are also other cash prizes, every day that guarantee everyone the chance to win them.

How much does someone who wins a stage at the Tour de France earn?

For each single stage – there are 21 in total – 11 thousand euros are awarded to the winner, a little less than what was expected at the Giro d’Italia, even if for only 10 euros. But there are also cash prizes for the other placings, from 5,500 euros for second to 2,800 euros for those who complete the podium of the day. Here’s who gets rewarded at the end of each stage.

Prize money at the Tour: how they are awarded

At the Tour de France, as in all UCI multi-day and in-line competitions, the prize money is not single but each winner will then have to share what he receives with all his teammates, the staff and accompanying officials of the team, the sports directors, in pre-established percentages.
