An entire valley is mourning the sudden passing of Federico Gasperetti, vice president of the Fat cooperative, Frutticoltori Associati Tuenno, part of the Melinda consortium. The young man crashed his car a few meters from home, losing his life instantly.

Gasperetti, who passed away on Friday evening, leaves behind his partner and two young children, aged 1 and 5. Besides being a prominent figure in the community, he was a great sportsman, renowned in the national tambourine.

He played as a full-back in Serie A open with Solferino, a team that currently leads the standings, trying to win yet another championship after the titles won with Cavaion and Castellaro. In 2016, he had also won the world championship with Italy in the Medole competition.

Federico, who had recently moved to Cles with his family, has always maintained strong ties with Tuenno. His passing led to the cancellation of several events, including a performance by the Lago Rosso choir, the installation of a giant screen for the European Football Championship match between Switzerland and Italy, and a review of the local band.

As a sign of mourning, the Trentino committee has ordered that all weekend races begin with a minute of silence. Even at a national level, Gasperetti was remembered: the top match between Solferino and Cavrianese was postponed and a minute’s silence was observed in his memory on all pitches in Italy.

Federico Gasperetti’s Funeral it will be held in Tuenno tomorrow, Monday 1 July, at 2pm. He leaves behind his partner, his two children, his parents Graziella and Luciano, and his sister Barbara.
