It’s the day of signatures. Great expectations for Ragatzu

Is it the day of the first signatures? It could be. In fact, it almost certainly will be. The signatures, obviously, are those that the new players will put on the contracts that will bind them to Pontedera, an operation that became possible yesterday, when the 2024-25 sports season began. The most advanced negotiations, those that are considered to be in the process of being concluded, if not already concluded on word of mouth, are four. The most anticipated is undoubtedly the one that leads to the hiring of Daniele Ragatzu, a 32-year-old playmaker who played for Olbia last year (yesterday, through the Olbianova online site, the player wrote a letter of thanks to the club, teammates, and Olbia fans for his 7 years of stay), as well as one of the top players in Serie C. Dialogues between the club and the player’s entourage had already taken place in recent days and it seems the parties had left with the desire to reach an agreement. We will know shortly if it has been reached.

The other deal that could be announced is the one regarding the attacking midfielder Kenneth van Ransbeeck, 29 years old and in the last tournament playing for Legnago, a team in Group A and the next opponent of the Granata. His name has come up in the last few hours but only because, apparently, there was already a basic agreement. The other two announcements are those regarding two under 18s arriving on loan from the Genoa Primavera (both born in 2004), the team from which the coach Alessandro Agostini, the new Granata coach, comes. They were the first two names to come out in this transfer market and correspond to those of the goalkeeper Simone Calvani, brother of the defender Gabriele who returned to Genoa after a decidedly positive year here in Pontedera, and the winger Alessio Sarpa.

In the meantime, the Pontedera eSports team has won the WeCup Early Summer Edition 2024. The Granata team, represented by player Mattia De Maria and coach Salvatore De Maria, won a very hard-fought final against Juve Stabia 2-1, resolved only on penalties in the last of the three matches played. In game-1, the Granata beat the Stabia team 2-1, in game-2 they were defeated 7-1 and in the decisive game-3 they won 8-7 after penalties. Pontedera eSports had reached the final after finishing in first place in their preliminary round thanks to victories against Padova (4-1) in the semifinal and Lucchese (9-3) in the final. The victory in the last WeCup represents yet another splendid result achieved by Pontedera eSports, confirming the quality of the work done in recent years and a project in continuous growth.
