The Ministry of Education and Merit ‘should retrace its steps and move the date for the competition for school managers: May 23rd is sacred for the civil memory of Italy’. Maria Falcone, president of the Falcone Foundation, and Giovanni’s sister, says this on the news of the Ministry of Education’s choice to set the pre-selective phase of the competition for school managers throughout Italy on May 23, the day of the anniversary of the Capaci massacre in which killed the magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Francesca Morvillo, and the state police agents Rocco Dicillo, Antonio Montinaro and Vito Schifani.
“To state that only 2,400 Sicilian teachers out of a total of 24,000 will not be able to participate – continues Falcone – is an unforgivable thoughtlessness: everyone must have the freedom to follow their hearts and emotions on that day.
I thank all those who raised their eyebrows at this act of distraction, first of all the President of the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission Chiara Colosimo who rightly asked for the trials to be postponed or moved to another date and I hope that the representatives of the Ministry of Education that have created this cultural gap between the Ministry, schools and civil society must immediately retrace their steps.”
