Milan, 15 June 2024 – The first details emerge of the findings of the firefighters at work in Via Fra Galgario 8 the day after the fire on Friday afternoon claimed the lives of the family who lived on the third floor of the building: Silvano, Carolina and Antonio Tollardo, who died from toxic fumes.

According to what the firefighters found, in the workshop where the devastating fire started, repairs were underway to a Volkswagen Polo which was in a raised position, on top of a bridge structure. Probably the car would have started to leak petrol in an anomalous way, hence the toxic fumes and flames which hit the tire depot still inside the workshop.

The operators present tried to put out the flames, without success. When the fire involved the tires has become uncontrollable: in a few seconds the smoke invaded the condominium reaching the apartments above. The three victims were not totally charred: the hypothesis is that they were caught by surprise and did not have time to escape, hit by toxic fumes that gave them no escape.
The injured person, accompanied in code yellow to the burns hospital, would be a passer-by who was on the street at the time. The owner of the workshop was slightly intoxicated.
