Potenza, Telesca: «With him healthcare in default, support for non-methane recipients is lost and taxes increase: let’s react»
«At a crucial moment for our city, it is essential to reflect on the choices that have led us to the current situation and on the paths to take to guarantee a better future. In recent years, under the leadership of the Northern League and mayor Mario Guarente, Potenza has seen a worrying decline, with management that has brought the city further and further down. Now, with his partner Fanelli, we risk seeing the disastrous scenario of Lucanian healthcare replicated, reduced to default with millionaire deficits” stated the candidate for mayor of Potenza Vincenzo Telesca. There are now just a few days left until the vote and Telesca, at the head of a coalition made up of 5 lists, underlines how important it is for the future of Potenza not to reconfirm the centre-right in government of the city. «The healthcare situation in Basilicata is emblematic: – continues Telesca – the 50 million euros of Eni-Shell environmental compensation, intended for development projects, were used to cover the losses of the regional healthcare service. So, even if the commissionership were to be avoided, no more gas bonuses for those without methane gas, an injustice for the many residents in our already mistreated suburbs. An electoral deception for those who voted for the right in the recent regional elections convinced they could obtain this bonus. Not to mention those who had already planned the works. This has led to a precarious balance, with a healthcare deficit accumulated in 2023 by the healthcare companies of Potenza and Matera and by the “San Carlo” AOR which has reached unsustainable levels. The current management has forced the Region and the health companies to force themselves to eliminate the deficit, risking further compromising the future of local health services. With the rates that risk skyrocketing to the maximum and the inefficiencies, see the waiting lists, which are expected to get even worse, forcing people from Potenza to have to go outside the region for treatment.
