Despite Gori’s reassurances, the Sorrento peninsula is still struggling with a serious shortage of drinking water. For almost two days, taps have been running dry from Vico Equense to Sorrento and Massa Lubrense, with thousands of families and commercial activities in serious difficulty.

The situation is unsustainable: elderly people and children without water to wash, workers unable to carry out their duties, hotels and restaurants forced to close or face customer complaints. Exasperation is growing, also fueled by the lack of clear and timely communications from local mayors.
