La Maddalena (Sassari), 15 June 2024 – Tragedy in the waters of Sardinia. A 26-year-old Navy soldier, Pietro Stipa, originally from Argentario, died in an accident with the dinghy. The boat hit some rocks that emerged and the boy, who was beaten against the rocks themselves, was later found lifeless in the water.
It happened in the night between Friday and Saturday. His girlfriend was also on the dinghy, unharmed but in shock. The young man, who belonged to the Sdai nucleus (Demining Defense Against Treacherous Vehicles) based on the island, would not have seen the rocks that emerged during navigation.
It was the girl, who is from La Maddalena, who alerted the Coast Guard, arrived from the nearby port of Cala Gavetta. The victim was found in the sea after an hour of searching. The accident happened around four o’clock. Shortly afterwards, the girl’s alarm.
Tragedy happened ahead to the island of Santo Stefanoa treacherous passage that everyone knows. Pietro Stipa he was considered an experienced seaman and above all with an in-depth knowledge of the places of the archipelago precisely because of his work in the Navy.
According to initial reconstructions, when the young man fell he hit his head, ending up against the rocks, losing consciousness. He would therefore be dead by drowning. The body was found on the seabed. The young man had attended the Naval Academy of Livorno. The body is located in the La Maddalena morgue.
