Florence, 65-year-old nurse found dead at home: possible murder

Was found dead at dawn in her home in the public housing blocks of via Niccolò da Tolentino in Florence, a 65-year-old woman, a nurse of Peruvian origin, Maria Teresa Flore Chavez. The seventeen year old nephew, who lives with her, called a neighbor to say the woman wasn’t waking up. 118 then called the police.

Investigations into the causes of death are underway: but the murder hypothesis is growing. A mobile and scientific team are investigating, together with the coroner and the prosecutor on duty Giacomo Pestelli who arrived on site.

The victim’s name was Maria Teresa Flore Chavez and was a nurse in two healthcare facilities near Careggi. According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, it was a neighbor who called 118 this morning around 5.30am and was called by the woman’s nephew. The boy told the police that he returned at that time and found a man in the house with whom he had a fight, suffering several bruises. For this reason, the seventeen-year-old has now been taken to Careggi hospital where he will undergo a medical examination before being questioned by investigators. On the door of the house on the first floor there were no signs of infringement but a window was found open.
