CATANZARO – The Calabria Region makes available 15 million euros in two years to finance the public administration dematerialisation project and allow the 1,000 employees of Abramo CC not to lose their jobs.

The said it President of the Region Roberto Occhiutospeaking via Skype at the meeting of Abramo CC employees who have been occupying the Crotone City Council since Monday and who this morning had taken to the streets to protest against the absence of politics and the failure to convene a ministerial crisis table on their dispute.

The employees were not even satisfied with the one-month extension of the Tim clerk which had been announced by Occhiuto himself.

“I too – said Occhiuto – cannot be satisfied with an extension but until we have a structural solution I will continue to ask for extensions. If we start to lay off people or do zero-hour redundancy fund it becomes more complicated to safeguard jobs and in Calabria we cannot afford it”.

To those who had contested his absence, Occhiuto said: «I can’t physically be there with you, but it doesn’t mean that I’m not with you. Sometimes it’s better to work to get the result than come and pat yourself on the back. I’ve read unfair things towards me, but they are understandable excesses because I understand your situation which makes you lose serenity of judgment”.

Occhiuto then explained his plan. «The one-month extension of the Tim contract – he said – it is not the solution, it is an opportunity to continue working on the project and it allows us to avoid layoffs. I could have obtained an extension for more than a month, but on August 7 the extraordinary administration procedure expires and this is a problem within the problem».

The governor announced that «the Region is available to invest 15 million in two years from the POR to finance the dematerialization project and start building this model from Calabria” and that “we may have some other news in the next ten days to understand how the 15 million made available by Calabria can be compatible with community spending”.

Abramo CC employees have decided to dissolve the permanent assembly and give Occhiuto ten days to have confirmation of the 15 million financing. In any case, if the crisis table is not called by July 12, Abramo CC employees Monday, July 15th they will go to Rome to protest in front of the Mimit. (Ansa)
