On Thursday 20 June, at 8.30 pm, the Panathlon Club Forlì is organising, in the hall of Palazzo Albicini (corso Garibaldi, 80), an evening in memory of Fabio Casartelli, the unforgettable cyclist who tragically died in July 1995 during a stage of the Tour de France. The event is linked to the first edition of the “Granfondo Romagnola”, promoted by CONI, which will take place in Forlì on 7 July and which aims to remember the unfortunate Olympic champion.
Together with Casartelli’s wife, Annalisa Rosetti, a very high profile figure from our cycling world will be present at the evening, Davide Cassani, former technical commissioner of the Italian national cycling team and today RAI voice of the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France, who will have the task of leading the event, in which former cyclists Roberto Conti, Fabiano Fontanelli and Fabio Laghi will also take part.
The “Granfondo Romagnola”, strongly supported by Annalisa Rosetti and Marco, Casartelli’s son, is a non-competitive race, open to members and non-members; three routes will be proposed (of 47, 85 and 125 kilometres) and each participant will be able to choose the one considered most suitable for him. The departure will take place from Piazza Saffi, while the arrival is expected at the “Servadei” velodrome.
