Grammar: “Ideal Altamura. Stadium? Club good at moving in time”

TMW Radio

At the helm of the newly promoted sports area Team Altamura has arrived Andrea Grammatica, sporting director who returns to Serie C after some experiences among the amateurs. Here is what the guest manager of ‘A Tutta C’, an in-depth column on the Lega Pro broadcast on TMW Radio

Director, how did you come to choose this new professional adventure?
“I sincerely wanted to regain the category I had been in for a few years. This year I had the opportunity with four proposals and I chose the one that stimulated me the most. A few years ago when I was at Reggiana I had the possibility of making group C with Cosenza or Catanzaro but I was never able to free myself from the contract, I was obsessed with the southern group and that passion that is in Altamura for me is the ‘ideal”.

How did the choice of Daniele Di Donato as the new coach come about?
“Di Donato is a coach I followed when he won the championship at Arzignano after Vincenzo Italiano. He did very well the first year in Latina, in the last part there were some difficulties. He is a balanced coach with important ideas and for this reason the owners also like him, he is consolidated in this category and we have already shared a technical and tactical project. All the bases are there to do well.”

Was the stadium issue the big unknown for this registration?
“The ownership moved very promptly and there were the two hypotheses of Brindisi and Bari. These are extra-football bureaucratic procedures to be resolved and for this reason we moved forward with time. This is a shameful topic, with SPAL I had the opportunity to follow the championships in northern Europe where C doesn’t exist, they are all amateur championships and in any country you go you will find facilities comparable to our modern ones such as those of Frosinone and Udine. It’s an embarrassing situation and for a club to have to pay 40-50 thousand euros per match is a shame and a bloodbath.”

Between Atalanta, Juventus and Milan which of the three second teams would you like to challenge in group C?
“I wouldn’t have any problems, perhaps Milan could be the least experienced theoretically given that they are leaving this year. Right for that when talking about technical aspects, but otherwise it doesn’t matter. It’s nice to be able to face a reality of this type with a technical quality superior to the category.”
