LAWN. The anticipation for the 33rd Torneo dei Rioni Montemurlesi is growing. This year the competition will take place between 17 June and 23 July, the day of the final. There will be seven teams, one per district, competing for the title: Strada Mulino, Oste, Popolesco, Morecci, Novello, Bagnolo and Fornacelle. All matches are scheduled at Nelli in Oste with kick-off at 9.30pm.

The first match is set for Monday 17 June and will see Strada Mulino compete against Oste. Tuesday 18th will be the turn of Popolesco against Morecci followed, the day after, by the match between Novello and Fornacelle which will close the first day. The second day starts on June 21st and will see Oste against Bagnolo. On June 25th it will be Morecci’s turn against Strada Mulino and on June 26th Fornacelle against Popolesco. The third day will see Novello against Bagnolo on 27 June, followed by Oste and Morecci on 28 June. The third day ends with Strada Mulino against Fornacelle on 2 July. We continue like this until the last day of the group stage, set for Friday 12 July, when Popolesco and Novello will compete.

At that point, the top two teams in the group stage will go directly to the semi-finals. The seventh ranked team will automatically be eliminated from the tournament. The teams from third to sixth place, however, will compete between 15 and 16 July: the fourth-placed team will meet with the fifth-placed team respectively, while the following day it will be the turn of the third-placed team in the groups against the sixth-placed team. The two winning teams will meet the first and second placed teams on July 18th and July 19th in the semifinals. Finally it will be the turn of the final, set for July 23rd, between the two winning teams of the semi-finals.

Football, however, doesn’t end here. If the Montemurlo District football tournament has reached its 33rd edition, the one in Prato represents an absolute novelty.

The calendar has already been set between the four contenders: Rossi, Gialli, Verdi and Blu. Each match will be played by both the Junior team and the one made up of the Seniors.

The Rossi and Gialli Juniors will open the ball with the first leg match and will compete on the Conti della Galcianese pitch on Tuesday 25 June at 7pm, followed the next day by the Seniors, with the same time and pitch.

The Azzurri and Verdi Juniors, however, will compete on Thursday 27 June at 7pm, while the Seniors will play at 9.30pm at the Chiavacci of Zenith Audax.

The return matches start with the Junior match between Verdi and Azzurri scheduled at Becheroni de La Querce on Tuesday 2 July at 6pm, while the Seniors will take place two days later, Thursday 4 July, at 7pm. The return of Gialli against Rossi is set for Wednesday 3 July at the Rossi del Coiano Santa Lucia Prato Social Club: at 7pm the Juniores and at 9pm the Seniors.

The double final is scheduled for the Lungobisenzio stadium on Wednesday 17 July: at 7.30 pm the winners of the double Junior matches will compete. At 9pm, however, it will be the turn of the greats to compete for the first territorial title of the Torneo dei Rioni di Prato.
