Sassari, 27 June 2024 – Ettore Erriquez, 54 years old, from Sassari, is the new general secretary of First CISL Sardinia (the CISL federation of the credit, insurance, tax collection and authorities sector). Married, father of two children, accountant and commercial expert, banker in the Unicredit group, Erriquez was first a union representative in the company, and then assumed responsibility for the Sassari territory of First Cisl from 2013 to today. Joining him in the secretariat will be Giovanna Rosa Pittalis, from Nuoro, and Roberto Fiori, from Cagliari, both employees of Banco di Sardegna.

Erriquez was elected this morning during the General Council called to replace Sergio Mura, who became general secretary of the CISL of Sassari a few weeks ago and was present at the work together with the national leader of the federation, Riccardo Colombani, who respected the commitment made, despite the convocation of the CISL National Executive Committee took place, for the pleasure of greeting and thanking Sergio Mura for the monumental work carried out. He expressed the hope to Ettore of repeating, and perhaps improving, the results obtained in recent years, having the qualities and leveraging the very effective support and political and operational sharing of Giovanna Rosa and Roberto, in the name of continuity.

In his opening speech, Sergio Mura outlined the work carried out by the regional federation over the last eleven years, always in the wake of the activities of the national federation and the CISL. These were years in which the individual provincial entities were able to unite to face the crisis in the credit, insurance and tax collection sectors, the long and complex transformations, the reduction of staff, the closure of part of the network. At the base of everything there was a strong listening to the difficulties experienced by workers in the sector and the consequent protection activity. Within these great changes, the union has changed in turn, combining the classic activity of fighting distortions and injustices in the sector with a continuous stimulus towards companies to reduce the negative impacts on workers, but also of local communities.

“To do this,” said Sergio Mura, “we worked tirelessly to create and then constantly refine the team of specialists who carried out union activities in every province of our region.” To improve union work, it was necessary to carry out constant professional training.

“I take up the political legacy of a great regional secretary like Sergio Mura” – declared the newly elected general secretary – with the commitment to continue in the direction traced in the most recent congress.

Our secretarial commitment is to give immediate priority to the pernicious phenomenon of depopulation of workers in the branches in the territories, those in direct contact with customers and users”. There are segments of the population that do not have, for many reasons, easy access to digital methods, which however cannot replace the professional and human relationship based on trust. We believe that technological development should promote operational simplification but not replace work which, it is worth remembering, is the foundation of our Republic. Furthermore, banks and financial institutions in general should guarantee, in addition to their economic result, also the development of the territories in which they operate and that this is also convenient for everyone. The development of our region inevitably passes through a correct social function of credit. For this reason we will monitor with the utmost attention every operation of the Bper Group, owner of the Banco di Sardegna, but also the attitude of the other national banks, open to supporting initiatives that translate into employment and economic growth in Sardinia but ready to oppose any choices that risk impoverishing our region. In this we will be in close contact with the regional CISL”.
