An intense and amazing day of celebrations between history, sports, future projects and emotions. All this was, last Saturday, the celebration for the 70th anniversary of the Società Canottieri Pesaro, founded in 1954 by the Julian-Dalmatian exile Bruno Puja, together with a group of athletes from Pesaro. Many were present, from historic members to masters, and of course the young athletes with their coaches, who from the morning animated the headquarters of Calata Caio Duilio al Porto, one of the most beautiful areas of the city, attracting the curious and enthusiasts with an exhibition of historic and recent boats, the setting up of an exhibition and the screening of a documentary film, a social race for the 2nd edition of the Puja Trophy and finally, at sunset, a grand event on the terrace of the Canottieri. To share this important moment and confirm the strong bond that Canottieri Pesaro intends to consolidate with the territory and the institutions, the mayor Andrea Biancani, the councilor for Sport Mila Della Dora, the MEP Matteo Ricci and the Harbour Master’s Office intervened.
Among the guests, the president of the Italian Rowing Federation – and legend of this sport – Giuseppe Abbagnale, the federal councilor Luciana Reale, the Olympic champion Alessandro Corona stood out together with the representatives of the rowing clubs of the Marche and the Adria club of Trieste with which a bond of friendship has been established. Many topics were discussed during the evening event hosted by Paolo Pagnini: remembrance of the history of the club and the charismatic figure of Bruno Puja through the testimonies of those who witnessed the birth of the Canottieri, discussion together with the representatives of the Fic on the future of rowing, presentation of future projects, innovative reflections on the relationship between rowing and the environment, with the expert Francesco Mondora, and on the positive influence of rowing on psychophysical well-being with Dr. Anna Maria Baldelli.
