The party for the awards ceremony of the third Viareggio Bastia Viareggio was held on the quayside of Piazza Palombari dell’Artiglio. With dozens of guests, authorities, entrepreneurs and crews participating in the sailing regatta that is becoming increasingly successful. Massimo Perotti, president of the Sanlorenzo shipyard, was also there and revealed his dream for Viareggio: “I would like to bring here the construction of 100′ Maxi sailing boats, boats from 30 meters and up, that can be reminiscent of the sailing ships that were built in the nearby dock.” And who knows, maybe he will succeed in doing so in the near future. The new shipyard could be built, we hypothesize, at the old fish market once it was decommissioned, also because the seabed in the new dock is the easiest inside the port. A dock that has hosted the historic regatta successfully for years now. “In Viareggio we have great opportunities and we know how to organize things well, putting all our good will into it. Important occasions like this are a must that all of us from Viareggio should be proud of”, said the councilor for tourism Alessandro Meciani, alongside his colleague Rodolfo Salemi, who also launched something new: “We would like to work together with the organizers to try to involve the Tuscany Region in the VBV, which is growing in importance and which we want to take ever higher”. And it is a trust, in the city and its sporting initiatives, that also animates those who continue to participate, and win, with their Arca Src: “We have already launched the challenge for 2025. The logistics for the boats certainly need to be improved, perhaps by adopting the system of buoys outside the port – declared Furio Benussi – This way even larger boats could register”. And it was precisely to Arca that Massimo Moratti’s video greeting arrived: “Well done to those from Arca who won. Well done also to Momi, who also represented our family, always linked to Viareggio, first with my father and then with me, a city that I love so much”. An evening that saw, in addition to the awards for the regatta participants, from the cup to the youngest, Anna Giurlani, 12 years old, to the first, second and third classified, also special recognitions. Rosalba Giugni, president of Mare Vivo, was given a plaque for the protection and safeguard of the territory, just as, the Mare Vivo award, went to Nicola Navarra, commander of the Naval Air Department of the Guardia di Finanza of Livorno, for the professionalism and work that the Finanza, which came third in the regatta, brings to defend the environment. Recognition plaques were also given to the port commander, Silvia Brini, for her support of the event, to Silvio Nuti of the Fondazione Mare Oltre and to Katia Balducci, in memory of her father Giuseppe, who recently passed away. But not only that, as an absolute novelty, the boat with the highest number of female presences on board was also awarded, with Barbara Pernar of Arca, “to valorize the female intervention in maxiyachts, hoping that there will be girls who, in the future, will follow you”.

A future which, meanwhile, for next year, renews the appointment from 25 to 28 June.
