Reggio Emilia, 30 June 2024 – They have been searches suspended of divers, engaged in the search for 19 year old boy disappeared after lunch in the swirling waters of the Enza river (video).
The search for the boy continued into the evening
The young man, of Ukrainian origin, was with friends on a beach in San Polo and they were all doing something together a barbecue. After eating, the 19-year-old decided to dive into the water swollen by recent rains and full of very dangerous whirlpools.
The dive was immortalized by friends with cell phones: the images were acquired by the Carabinieri who are investigating a day of celebration that turned into hours of anguish.
To look for the boy he also took off the fire brigade helicopterbut to no avail.
However, the searches continued until the evening. The river section downstream of the bridge on the SP 513 between San Polo d’Enza and Traversetolo was illuminated with lighthouse towers. They were carried out on both sides patroli by the river units of the Parma and Reggio Emilia Commands, supported by teams of civil protection volunteers.
Instead, they continued on throughout the afternoon surface and underwater searches via divers arrived from the Florence Command.

At the point where the boy is supposed to have fallen there is a hydraulic roller powered by a very strong current that made deep searches difficult. They will resume tomorrow morning with the help of drones.
Even the research superficial with the dinghy, to see if the body had ended up further downstream, they were in vain. The reclamation attempted to reduce the flow of the Enza in the Spelta canal, but the heavy rains of recent days have already saturated the flow of the surrounding canals.
