Lando BartoliniBorn in Prato in 1937, he studied accordion while working in his parents’ textile company. After his marriage, he moved to Philadelphia in the United States, where he was employed in the mechanical field. In 1967, following the premature death of his brother Lino, a singer, he devoted himself to studying singing at the city’s Music School, soon winning the Mario Lanza competition and perfecting his skills at the Academy of Vocal Arts with the greatest professionals then in their careers in America. His apprenticeship was rapid and, already in the early 1970s, Bartolini found himself a protagonist on the most important stages in the world. His repertoire included 49 roles, mainly as a lyric tenor, from Belcanto to Verismo, with a predilection for Verdi and Puccini characters.

A sonorous, confident voice, with volume and ring, debuted at the Verona Arena in the summer of 1983 as Radames in Aida, a favorite heroic role and reprized several times like that of Calaf in Turandot (the same year) and he was a regular and eagerly awaited guest every summer from 1992 to 1998for a total of almost forty appearances in the Amphitheatre, including the operas Cavalleria rusticana (Turiddu) and Pagliacci (Canio).
