Mariangela Netti decided 22 years ago to oppose the closure of the family livestock farm in You have and despite an established career in fashion Milanoleaves everything and returns to Puglia. The story of «The Longhiera» It is 75 years long and is a story that unfolds entirely through women, from grandmother Angela who starts the farm with two brown cows, received as a dowry when she gets married, and which continues with her daughter Antonia (Mariangela’s mother).

But the work in the fields is hard, often thankless, in 2002 Antonia and her husband Nicola realize that they can’t take it anymore and begin to think about closing the business. After all, their daughter Mariangela she is in Milan, she has a good job in the fashion field, far from the sacrifices of the earth.

“Only the idea that such a precious asset as what I felt was my home could end, becomes an impossible eventuality,” explains Netti with a firm voice. Who decides to leave Lombardy and return even against the wishes of her family.

A return that turns into a journey of courage and success, thanks also to the precious support of her husband Enzo. “Enzo is the son of a milk merchant. He has a long-term and prospective vision. He loves and specializes in everything that is technological. Unlike me, who is more inclined to connect and mend the threads, to conclude the present. Our journey together has brought us this far.”

And the “here” is a farm with 150 brown cows (from the two that grandma started with) cared for in every detail. Everything revolves around the well-being of the animals, which allows the production of a raw material of absolute excellence…
