The scene is filmed in the Giacomo Leopardi comprehensive institute in Potenza Picena. The school was transformed into a set for the film “Strike – children of a wrong era”. The story is about three kids who attend the Serd, the health facility for pathological addictions, in different capacities. There is the psychologist’s assistant, there are those who have to undergo periodic checks because they have been found in possession of drugs again and there are those who have to go through a rehabilitation program.
The setting
All set in hot summer days. Three of the four authors are also the directors, at their first work, Diego Tricarico, Giovanni Nasta, Gabriele Berti, also on stage. «It starts as a theatrical show – comments Tricarico – stories of families and young women, situations we know». So the cinema, and Berti adds that «we dig deep trying to understand why the kids end up having problems and needing treatment. Our very personal analysis is that it is a lack of love». The film also talks, says Nasta «about friendship, they meet here, they team up and move forward».
The market
They have been in Potenza Picena for filming since June 17th, they will remain there for another week, then they will return between the end of August and the beginning of September. “The Marche is now like our second home” say the directors who add “good food, beautiful places, but above all the people of the Marche are wonderful”. The 200 extras and special figures, the equipment, many workers are also from the Marche. “The Region has chosen well – comment the three directors – we started alone, with our dream, and now we are surrounded by a crew of 60 people. Everything is fantastic”. The film is one of the productions that the Marche film commission supports with the funds assigned through the calls for proposals. “It is an Italian-Spanish co-production – explains the president of the Marche Culture Foundation Andrea Agostini – so it will have an international distribution, and it is one of the productions that were awarded part of the funding from the call for proposals. One of the characters speaks a distinctly Marche dialect”. This is the actress from Ancona Francesca Lattanzio. In the school, the spaces were set up as a Serd, an ad hoc construction site was created, a special paint was used as a base for graffiti so as not to ruin the spaces. The courtyard of the school gym was used as a place of socialization in the film’s setting.
Production
The final scenes were being filmed on the set yesterday, with a total of about 30 days of filming in the Marche region. “With the contribution of the Marche film commission, the entire territory is also working,” adds Agostini. In fact, the crew resides in Porto Potenza Picena during their stay in the Marche region. “A private location, however,” comments the executive producer of Paco cinematographica, Massimo Monachini. Paco is the Italian producer, Neoart producciones the Spanish one. “We will be released in theaters – adds Monachini – in Italy, Spain and South America, in the latter continent the Spanish producer has already sold it. In Italy we will be in theaters, on platforms, and Rai and Mediaset. The film is designed for festivals, so we think it could go to Rome or Venice. The release is scheduled for 2025.” The images of the Marche region, both of the school and of the outdoor scenes in Potenza Picena, with the Camera car, will literally travel the world. This aspect is part of the purpose of the Marche film commission, that of promoting the territory
