TO almost six months since the announcement the new local police station opens its doors Largo Erfurt in Piacenza, in one of the urban areas most under the spotlight in recent months due to episodes of degradation and crime news. The ribbon cutting of the new premises, made available free of charge to the Municipality of Piacenza by the Zeppi family, saw the presence of the mayor Katia Tarasconi and the agents who will be busy in the offices open seven days a week to host the information section of the unit, and numerous citizens. Some members of the Zeppi family also took part in the inauguration and made the shop on the ground floor of a building now occupied by the municipal headquarters available. Also present was the vice prefect Francesco Ramunni.
“I would like to thank the Zeppi family – underlined Mayor Tarasconi – who made these premises available, which were then completely renovated. The sense of placing a local police office here in Largo Erfurt is to try to restore normality to an urban area in which there have been events that are not in keeping with our city, so more people frequent this office creating a habitual coming and going, the further away the unpleasant episodes become. We have also installed two cameras in the gardens thanks to the ‘on the road’ project, which are not yet switched on due to the lack of electricity, but have been positioned and will give an excellent view. I believe it is a good start and I am grateful to the local police for being able to be here today and inaugurate this place which can give residents an extra sense of security.”
The commander of the corps Mirko Mussi he specified that “the information section will be opened in Largo Erfurt, a unit made up of an officer coordinated by a commissioner with six operators within it, two are dedicated to relations with the housing office and with Acer, for continuous control and monitoring of public housing. The others are dedicated to registry checks, since the beginning of the year we have exceeded 3 thousand checks of this type and the entire activity of notification of judicial documents from all over Italy”. “This garrison meets the request – he specified – that the residents, who then formed a neighborhood group, made to the mayor. Taking up the initiative of the owners of this property, we organized ourselves to open this office which, as you can see, is heavily glazed and therefore allows a broad view of the areas of Largo Erfurt affected by incidents and news”. At the moment only the silk-screen prints on the glass are missing.
The commissioner Fabio Trespidi listed some numbers of the information section of the local police across the entire city command: “It offers support to the notification of documents, since January 1st it has carried out checks for 1550 residence requests, 1360 changes of residence and 440 cancellations, a these add up to 700 criminal notifications arriving from all over Italy. The section is also responsible for the ERP building control activity, at the moment 22 complaints have been processed and reports received from Acer, this section is 100% operational, open 7 days a week.
