Shadow of the Erdtree Now Has Positive Reviews from Fans, After the Latest Patch

The launch of Shadow of the Erdtreethe highly anticipated expansion of Fire Ringunexpectedly divided the community due to a difficulty considered far above expectations, even taking into account that we are still talking about a soulslike from FromSoftware.

This enormous difficulty, together with some criticisms regarding the performance on PC, caused an unexpected wave of negative reviews, which led the official Steam page to have overall ratings “Average”: a demonstration of how much the community of Fire Ring if it were in all respects split in two.

But FromSoftware also immediately realized that the difficulty had evidently not been balanced correctly: a patch was made promptly available to increase the effects of the Shadow Tree’s blessings, also announcing the arrival of further updates to rebalance the challenge level.

A management that evidently has satisfied the community of Shadow of the Erdtree (you can find it bundled on Amazon), at least judging from the official Steam page: the situation has in fact changed considerably compared to the last few hours, with the overall reviews that now they are “Mostly Positive”.

Now only 29% of reviews are negative, at least at the time of writing this article, thus providing a clear signal of how the community has deeply re-evaluated FromSoftware’s work after a simple quick patch.

The fact that the overall rating has not yet become “Very Positive” obviously means that there is still some work to be done: performance continues to be very unstable, and the balance has not yet been fully ironed out, by FromSoftware’s own admission.

But anyway, the “worst” should be over and even the most skeptical fans in the last few hours wanted to give a second chance to Shadow of the Erdtreefacing difficulties head-on — as perhaps they should have done from the beginning.

In the meantime, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are already celebrating another incredible success: in just a few days, the DLC of Fire Ring it has already sold over 5 million copies.
