Now what happens while waiting for tomorrow? All the scenarios on the table

ANCONA Unfortunately, there is no good news from Palazzo del Popolo. This morning at 9 o’clock the deadline for adhering to the public notice “for the acquisition of expressions of interest from companies for the registration of the football team representing the Municipality of Ancona in an amateur championship for the 2024-25 sports season” expired. The procedure started by Mayor Daniele Silvetti will be the one that will have to lead, through art. 52 Noif (the only one allowed by the FIGC to request Serie D or, alternatively, the Eccellenza in excess), to the mandatory payment by July 4 of 400 thousand euros for D or 135 thousand euros for Eccellenza. Registration will then be completed, if necessary, by July 8. No other route will be taken into consideration by the federal bodies.

The verdict of the tender

After a few hours of waiting, during which Silvetti met with his closest collaborators to view the various proposals that arrived via certified email, around 11:30 the first communication arrived from Maria Gloria Frattagli, spokesperson for the mayor, on the outcome of the tender: «Only partial availability that will be aggregated, both for the first team and for the youth sector. At the moment the mayor will not release further statements, we await news by tomorrow». Translated: an attempt will be made to bring interested parties together around a table.

No one has satisfied, alone, the points present in the tender.

The scenarios

In short, the (almost) impossible restart from Serie D becomes even more complicated: it will be necessary to try to convince those who participated in the tender to form a single consortium – a very difficult undertaking given the very little time available – that can pay the 400,000 euros in non-repayable funds requested by the Federation by July 4th. To participate in the next D championship, however, it will not be enough to find this amount by the deadline of Thursday: a three-year plan with significant objectives and investments will have to be presented to the FIGC, in addition to allocating part of the investment to the youth sector. Would the proposals sent to the Mayor satisfy all these requirements if an agreement were to be found to create a single consortium? A question whose answer will probably arrive by tomorrow. The most credible hypothesis at the moment, at this point, inevitably becomes that of restarting from Eccellenza, Silvetti’s plan B: more affordable costs and lower requests – both economic and planning – even from the FIGC itself. In short, the game is still open but the road to Serie D is increasingly uphill and – unless a miracle happens in the next few hours – starting tomorrow we could start to focus decisively on the Eccellenza.
