There were 1,858 people, of which 80.8% men (1,502) and 19.2% women (356), who were taken care of by the Sert (Drug Addiction Services) of the Umbria 1 Local Health Authority.

A given in slight increase compared to 2022 where there were 1,777 patients, of which 80.2% were male (1,426) versus 19.8% female (351).

On the occasion of World Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Traffickingwhich is celebrated on 26 June, the Umbria 1 Local Health Authority takes stock by recalling that in all the Company’s Districts there are active territorial services dedicated to legal and illegal psychophysical addictions.

They deal with the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of people who have a pathological addiction to illicit substances (such as heroin, cocaine, THC, methamphetamines) and/or legal ones (tobacco, alcohol, psychotropic drugs) and to abusive behaviors (gambling) .

The services guaranteed by Sert are ticket-free. Access to the service is direct (without passing through the Cup) and by appointment by calling the Service. Therefore no referral is needed of the attending physician.

THE DATA – Also in 2023, the Sert that had the most patients was that of Perugino with 856 people, followed, respectively, by Alto Tevere (340), Alto Chiascio (236)Middle Tiber Valley (158), Trasimeno (151) and Assisano (137).

The largest age group was between 40 and 44 years old with 256 users (13.8%), ahead of that 35-39 with 254 cases (13.7%). The least are those linked to the under 19s with 61 patients (3.3%) and the over 59s with 92 (5%).

The most used primary substances from patients were heroin for 67.4% (1,224 cases), cocaine for 16.7% (303) and cannabinoids for 13.6% (248). The other users used other opiates (0.7%), crack (0.5%), benzodiazepines (0.4%), methadone (0.3%), amphetamines (0.1%), hallucinogens (0.1%), other hypnotics and sedatives (0.1%), ketamine (0.1%) and other substances (0.1%).

In 2022, however, the most followed age group was between 35-39 years old with 262 users (14.7%). The most used substances were heroin, in 70.5% of cases (1,252 people), cocaine with 15.5% (275) and cannabinoids with 11.4% (203).
