Good morning friends of OA Sport and welcome to the LIVE LIVE textual of the GP d’Austriaeleventh event of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship. IThe Austrian Grand Prix gets underway with the Sprint Race and qualifying for Sunday’s race.
Ferrari must recover in the sprint race after the bitter disappointment of the Sprint Qualifying. The Maranello team took fifth place with Carlos Sainz and tenth with Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque did not set a time in Q3 after the long slowdown in the pit lane and engine problems. It will be difficult for the Reds to climb back towards the podium given the few laps available, but each passage under the finish line could provide important information for the rest of the weekend.
Max Verstappen will start in front of everyone in the Sprint Racewho edged out almost a tenth of a second from Lando Norris. Behind the Briton will be his teammate Oscar Piastri, flanked by George Russell. McLaren will launch a new challenge to the world champion, who is giving a continuous demonstration of strength, clearly distancing Sergio Perez.
Qualifying for the actual race will take place in the afternoon. Once again it will be all against Verstappenwho seems to have something more than the competition. On such a short track the Dutchman beat Norris by 0.093 seconds and Piastri by over 3 tenths. Ferrari will look for redemption on the flying lap in the hope of turning the page on a Grand Prix that started off on the wrong foot.
Day 2 of the 2024 Austrian GP will start at 12.00 with the Sprint Race, while the Qualifying will take place at 4.00 pm. The day of racing will be visible on Sky Sport F1 and free-to-air on TV8.
