After having tried several times in past editions, the French climber born in 1981 Stéphane Cognet, standard bearer of the Officine Mattio Cycling Club, today achieved his first success in the international cycling granfondo La Fausto Coppi. The transalpine covered the 177 kilometers in 5h54’23”, second to his teammate Manuele Caddeo, born in 1986, in 5h56’46”, third was Andrea Gallo, born in 1987, athlete of the Mbhbank Colpack Ballan Csb team, in 5h57′ 41”. The top ten is completed by Alain Seletto, Giacomo Giordano, Andrea Cismondi, Alberto Botasso, Mattia Stoppa, Simone Ricca and Daniele Marino. After the first, historic success of a foreigner in the 35 editions of the event, that of Pieter Frolichs in the medium distance, Stéphane Cognet did an encore in the long distance; France and the Netherlands are the two largest nations, with 90 and 88 members respectively.
Roberta Bussone, Asd Roadman Team (LORIS SALUSSOLIA)
Among the women, victory on her debut in the long course for Roberta Bussone, born in 1983, registered with the Asd Roadman Team, who finished in 6h29’04”, ranking fourteenth overall.
