Hundreds will compete for victory on Sunday in the 48th edition of the Reggello-Vallombrosa. The classic of the Uisp calendar, valid this year as the regional uphill running championship, is quickly approaching its fiftieth anniversary for which there will certainly be great celebrations, being an unusual milestone for any sporting event, but in the meantime there is great anticipation for this year’s edition and right now the various Tuscan clubs are sending the organizers the lists of registered competitors. Among them, one name already stands out, that of Ana Nanu (Atl.Rimini Nord Santarcangelo), the Romanian who has been living in Italy for years and naturalized, multiple winner between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. Also there will be Paolo Micotti (Gs Orecchiella), 7th in the Scalata Alpe San Pellegrino, a stage of the Tuscan Peaks 2024, a circuit of which the Reggello-Vallombrosa is part.
The route has not changed compared to previous editions. Always starting from Piazza Roosevelt in Reggello and then climbing up to 1,000 meters above sea level in the square in front of the Abbey of Vallombrosa. The total distance is 13.2 km for a difference in altitude of 650 meters. A challenge for chamois, always much loved by the Tuscan running scene and beyond. In addition to the competitive race, there will also be a non-competitive test as well as a 5 km recreational-motor walk starting from the Abbey and a circular route. The start will be given at 9:00 for all the scheduled tests. The cost of participation is 15 euros, 7 for the non-competitive until July 4th. Everyone will receive a special commemorative medal of the event. At the end of the race there will be 119 individual prizes in addition to the first 3 score companies and the first 5 for number of participants. For the regional championship, prizes for the first 3 in each category, the first 3 male and female teams, the mixed winner and the first 3 most numerous teams. Meeting in Reggello, in Piazza Potente, at 7:30 to collect bibs and race packs and last-minute registrations, at a price of 20 euros.
