La Bussola, 10 artists who performed in the historic club in Versilia
The film ‘La Bussola – the star collector’, broadcast this evening at 9.10pm on Rai3, celebrates the historic venue in Marina Pietrasanta (Lucca) and its manager Sergio Bernardini who transformed it into one of the most important stages in the world, the first on which De Andrè performed live. Over time, artists such as Mina, Celentano, Raffaella Carrà, Patty Pravo, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Louis Armstrong have sung. Today the place has become a well-known nightclub
FABRIZIO DE ANDRÈ – La Bussola was a fundamental place for the career of Fabrizio De Andrè. In fact, on 15 March 1975, on the stage of the Versilia venue, the Genoese singer-songwriter performed live for the first time in front of a large audience. De Andrè until that moment had always rejected live music. The impresario Sergio Bernardini, thanks also to Mina’s help, had managed to convince the artist not only to go on stage at La Bussola, but also to undertake a 100-date tour. The photo is from 1974 and portrays De Andrè with Bernardini
THE FOCETTE COMPASS- La Bussola, a historic nightclub on the seafront of Marina di Pietrasanta (Lucca) in the Le Focette area, was opened after the war by the Prato entrepreneur Alpo Benelli. After the initial lack of success, management passed to Sergio Bernardini (pictured). Bernardini’s first evening dates back to 4 June 1955, with Renato Carosone’s orchestra. The venue soon became one of the most prestigious on the world scene and many national and international artists performed on stage. Let’s see some of them
VITTORIO GASSMAN- Since the opening of the La Bussola venue, the famous Italian actor, director, screenwriter and writer was one of the first to go on stage: in the 1960 photo he is speaking into the microphone in front of the audience. Gassman passed away on June 29, 2000 at the age of 77
