PROVINCE OF PAVIA – The weekend of 29 and 30 June 2024 in the province of Pavia is full of fascinating and varied events, perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in nature, culture and entertainment.

On Saturday evening, nature lovers can take part in the excursion “A night in the woods on the Gomo plateau”. The event, organized by Calyx, includes a 6km walk through the chestnut woods, starting at 8.30pm from Buscofà. The guide will illustrate the landscape and morphological aspects of the area, allowing participants to discover the mysterious world of the forest at night, listening to the calls of nocturnal birds of prey and, with a bit of luck, even wolves. The excursion, suitable for hikers, will culminate on the Gomo plateau with a breathtaking view of the lights of Milan and Pavia.

For those who prefer the magic of music, always on Saturday 29 June, at Sartirana Castlewill be held “Alice & the Flying Piano”. This unique show combines the melody of the piano with magical illusions, thanks to a piano suspended four meters above the ground. The pianist Alice, wrapped in a fairy-tale dress, will offer a performance that promises to enchant the audience with her voice and her musical ability. An event that will transform the castle into a kingdom of wonder and amazement, with an entrance ticket of 32 euros.

Also on Saturday, Pavia will offer a relaxing experience with a “Aperitif on a boat on the Ticino”. Guests can enjoy the tranquility of the river aboard the motor vessel Le Due Rive, admiring the covered bridge and the view of the city at sunset. Boarding is scheduled for 6:15 pm and the cost of the ticket, which includes an aperitif, is 30 euros.

A They livedon Saturday afternoon, a guided tour will be held at the “Cagnoni Theater Stage Makers”. This free event will allow you to explore the city and the theater through the eyes of those who lived city life at the end of the 19th century. The visit, organized by the Associazione Amici del Teatro Cagnoni, is a unique opportunity to discover the history and stories related to this historic theater.

Wine and nature enthusiasts will be able to participate in the “Wine trekking at Stefanago castle” . The event, organized by Calyx, includes a 6 km evening walk through the vineyards and woods of Oltrepò Pavese, followed by a tasting of wines and local products in the charming “Stefanago Wine Garden”. For sports enthusiasts, Sunday 30 June will be the highlight of the “Italian Gravel Championships 2024” in Golferenzo. This cycling competition on unpaved roads will attract cyclists of all levels, from elites to amateurs, in an event that promises to be memorable among the hills and vineyards of the Oltrepò Pavese.

Lovers of gastronomy and walking can join the “Magna Longa of Mount Chiappo“, a 6 km food and wine walk with breathtaking views of the Alps, the Apennines and the sea. Departure is scheduled for 10:00 at Pian del Poggio, the highest point in the province of Pavia. The event includes a chairlift ride and participation costs 28 euros for adults.

Always on Sunday, a “Boat tour between Ticino and Po” will offer a river experience between history, architecture and nature. The motor vessel Le Due Rive will depart from Pavia and sail along the Ticino and Po rivers, with a tour that will allow you to admire the Ponte Coperto and the old town of Pavia, and then disembark at Portalbera.

Finally, the “Lavender harvest festival” a Varzi will offer a day among the scents and colors of the lavender fields, with jazz music and local products. A perfect opportunity to enjoy the Oltrepò Pavese countryside and discover the secrets of lavender cultivation.

Last weekend at Kosmos, the Natural History Museum of the University of Pavia, to visit the exhibition Insects XXL, a journey through giant-sized insect reproductions to discover these fascinating inhabitants of our planet. Insects XXL proposes the installation of over 30 large-format 3D models of insects, enlarged from 20 to 200 times, some of which reach a height of 2 meters which, without the aid of lenses or microscopes, will allow the visitor to appreciate the fantasy of the shapes and the functionality of the anatomical structures of these animals. The models are accompanied by an exhibit on the sounds of insects and a small overview of the most spectacular insects from the historical collections of the Museum.

Vespa club Paviathanks to the patronage granted by the Municipality of Pavia, and the Province of Pavia, invites everyone to the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Club. Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June they will be waiting for you at the GATHERING NATIONAL “CITY of PAVIA”. Saturday 29 June 2024 will be dedicated to welcoming the first Vespa riders, and to the sporting component of the two-day event in Pavia. In fact, the Historical Re-enactment of Vespa Regularity called “Palio dell’Oca” will take place from 3 pm to 7 pm in the central Piazza Leonardo da Vinci (also affectionately called by the city’s inhabitants: “the Piazza delle Tre Torri Medioevali”). This event will base its structure on the regulations used by the Pavia Vespa riders of the 50s and 60s, when in addition to pure regularity, it was customary to include in the rankings various skill tests to be carried out on the saddle of one’s Vespa. On this occasion, two different rankings will be seen: one reserved for pure Vespa Regularity, and one dedicated to the winners of the complete “Palio dell’Oca” formula.

On Sunday 30 June the appointment is set from 9 am in Piazza Petrarca (also called “Piazza del Mercato”) for the NATIONAL “CITTA’ di PAVIA” MEETING. Historically, the “City of Pavia” rally was organized from 1958 to 1961, and therefore 2024 would improperly be the 5th edition of this city formula. The Proloco of Zavattarelloin collaboration with the Institute of Tibetan Buddhist Studies in Milan, present “A mandala for Zavattarello”. On Friday 28, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 the halls of the Dal Verme Castle in Zavattarello will host the Tibetan monks, of the Tehor Khangtsen of the Sera Jey monastery in southern India, visiting Italy. The monks, guests in Zavattarello, will create a Mandala of colored sand, the result of long and meticulous work, one of the highest spiritual and artistic expressions of the Buddhist tradition. The purpose is to raise funds to be used for the maintenance of the monastery’s structures and for the daily sustenance of the monks. During the three days it will be possible to visit the photographic exhibition by Gemma Randelli I Volti del Tibet. For the occasion a market of artisanal products made by Tibetan refugees in India will also be set up, with all proceeds going to charity.
