(Sixth Power) – Ravenna – 26 June 2024 – The appropriate safety and security measures were defined in the last meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security in view of the second stage of the Tour de France on 30 June which , starting from Cesenatico, will cross some municipalities in the province of Ravenna, including Cervia where Km 0 is planned, Ravenna, Faenza, Brisighella and Riolo Terme.
In Faenza, in particular, a commemorative moment is planned by the Tour Organization for the family of Ercole Baldini, before the arrival of the runners in the town.
The comparison on the verification of the implementation of the necessary safety and security measures aimed at guaranteeing the safety of the athletes and the public along the race route can now be considered defined, while with reference to the level crossings present along the route, the operational module agreed with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana on the occasion of the Giro d’Italia will be replicated, as assured by the heads of the police forces present at the meeting and also by the Highway Police, Local Police and the Mayors of the Municipalities involved (Ravenna, Cervia, Faenza Brisighella and Riolo Terme).
Ample reassurances were provided by the Municipalities on the measures put in place to protect the safety of cyclists and the public, as well as the use of volunteers at crucial points of the route.
The Prefect of Ravenna has requested that COCs – Municipal Operations Centers – be established in both Ravenna and Riolo Terme to provide necessary assistance to citizens living in areas subject to mobility restrictions due to the passage of the caravan and for any alerts to emergency response teams of the Fire Brigade. Chemical toilets and refreshment points will be set up for staff and volunteers on duty.
All the details have also been defined for the Italian Golf Open in Cervia (27-30 June) which includes the presence of 156 athletes from all over the world with an attendance of around 5000 spectators per day.
Special hospitality and commercial areas will be set up inside the Adriatic Golf Club of Cervia and 300 volunteers will be employed within the area intended for the event.
Health care and emergency assistance will be provided by personnel of the Italian Red Cross with the setting up of an advanced medical post – PMA – with ambulances and an operations center of the organization that will act as coordination.
For the road system, a parking area with 1200 parking spaces has been identified, integrated with an adjacent camper parking area.
The municipal administration of Cervia has already prepared the appropriate ordinances to regulate traffic during the entire day of June 30th.
“I asked the organizers – Prefect De Rosa specified – that given the concomitance of the last day of the Golf Open on June 30th with the Tour de France stage in Cervia, maximum dissemination of the services in place is guaranteed in order to ensure the smooth running of the events”.
Finally, the Committee also examined, in the presence of the Mayor of Lugo Elena Zannoni, the recent episodes of arson against private cars by an arsonist roaming the area. Surveillance and control services and information-investigative activity will be intensified to prevent further similar episodes which, however, from the first activities carried out do not appear to be attributable to criminal groups but to the action of an arsonist who operates without any logical scheme.
In this regard, the maximum collaboration of citizens was requested in terms of reporting to the police and to avoid “active behaviors” which could compromise the effectiveness of the actions underway to identify the person responsible.
