Mantua, 25 June 2024 – Considered one of the most anticipated events of the season, the Gran Premio Nuvolari is fully organised. The international regularity event reserved for historic cars, now in its 34th edition, will be held from 19 to 22 September 2024 with the historic departure from the center of Mantua, birthplace of the great Tazio.

The Gran Premio Nuvolari was recently awarded the “Spirit of FIVA, World Motoring Heritage” award by the Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens, awarded every year to the ten best historic motoring events in the world. This prestigious recognition has led the organizers to organize an even more important 2024 edition. There are numerous new features in this 34th edition: a renewed itinerary will allow competitors to enjoy the breathtaking roads of Lake Garda, Veneto and Trentino, as well as the usual beauties of Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Marche and Tuscany.

The three days of the race will mark the different phases of the competition which include a total of 1,060 km of route and the participation of 300 crews from all over the world.

During the Gran Premio Nuvolari the wonderful vintage cars, icons of the industrial culture of the 20th century, will pay homage to the legendary driver, exhibiting some of the most famous masterpieces of world automotive engineering. The event offers an extraordinary experience with the aim of promoting a new concept of lifestyle tourism, closely linked to the world of motors and collecting, combining healthy sporting competition with the pleasure of discovering fascinating and unique places.

As per tradition, Mantova Corse has selected exclusive hotels and facilities for each stage to offer the crews the pleasure of living the experience of unforgettable days.

1991 marked the centenary of the birth of Tazio Nuvolari and the first re-enactment of the Nuvolari Grand Prix; this year the 34th edition organized by Mantova Corse will bring together crews from all five continents in Mantua, arriving with their vintage jewels and driven by a single common intent: to celebrate the figure of the greatest driver of all time . The event will take place in compliance with FIA, FIVA and ACI Sport regulations, with particular attention to the safety protocols of the national sports federation.

This year too, the event can count on the support of important companies, such as Red Bull (Special Partner), Finservice Group and Wannenes (Official Partners), Locman–Italy (Timekeeper Official Partner) and Penske Cars (Automotive Partner), thanks to the such as the Gran Premio Nuvolari will offer competitors a unique experience.

Nuvolari Green Grand Prix

The organization of the Gran Premio Nuvolari has always shown itself to be sensitive to environmental sustainability, undertaking for years a path aimed at safeguarding people and the territory. The first “Gran Premio Nuvolari Green” initiative was developed in 2020 and involved the planting of trees to offset the amount of CO2 emitted by the circulation of historic cars. From this year, a further activity is planned to limit the use of plastic bottles: water bottles made of Tritan, a new generation material totally free of BPA (Bisphenol A) will be distributed to each crew, all organizational staff and the media. ) a substance found in traditional plastics and which represents a potential health risk.

The 2024 path

The route of the Gran Premio Nuvolari represents the synthesis of many Italian excellences.

On Friday 20 September, as per tradition, the cars will position themselves on the starting platform in the historic Piazza Sordello, the heart of Mantua. They will travel along the roads of Monte Baldo alongside Lake Garda, until arriving in Riva del Garda, where a lunch break is scheduled at the Olivi beach. The stage will continue passing the Lessini Mountains and arriving in Verona, in Piazza Bra, for the stamp control in the shadow of the Arena. Then a passage from Castel d’Ario, birthplace of Tazio Nuvolari, the timed trials of Revere, towards Modena, with the arrival in Piazza Grande. Evening at the exclusive location of Villa Cavazza in Corte della Quadra, overnight stay in the capital of the Motor Valley.

On Saturday 21 September, the second stage will see the departure from the Novi Sad Park in Modena, towards Tuscany, Romagna and Marche. Stamp checks are expected in the historic center of Pistoia, Piazza del Campo in Siena, Piazza Grande in Arezzo. In the afternoon the crews will head towards the Pieve Santo Stefano tests and the Viamaggio pass. The arrival of the second stage will be in Rimini, in Piazza Tre Martiri. The day will end with the traditional gala dinner in honor of Tazio Nuvolari, in the wonderful Fellini-esque setting of the Grand Hotel in Rimini.

On Sunday 22 September the crews will return to Mantua. The path will reserve for them the last challenges, decisive to decide the final winner. Starting from Rimini, they will compete with the dreaded time trials in Meldola, then passing through Piazza Ordelaffi in Forlì, from Faenza, guests of the renovated Formula 1 “Racing Bulls” team, from Lugo, Conselice and Argenta. The Estense Castle will be the venue for the lunch break that the city of Ferrara will reserve for the competitors. It will then be the time to return to Mantua, through the Poggio Rusco and Ostiglia stamp controls. Finally the triumphal arrival in Mantua, within the hospitable walls of Piazza Sordello, after 1,060 km among the beauties of Italy.

Registration requirements and terms

Registration requests, to be made exclusively on the website www.gpnuvolari.it, can be sent until 31 July 2024. Cars manufactured from 1919 to 1981 equipped with a FIVA passport, or FIA Heritage chip, or ASI approval are admitted to the Nuvolari Grand Prix. or ACI Sport /ACI Historic forms. or certificate of registration in the AAVS historical register

This year the spectrum of eligible vehicles has been expanded. A special appendix called “Coppa Nuvolari GT 2024” will be organized, reserved for a maximum number of 35 Gran Turismos built from 1991 to 2024 and divided into three categories: “M1” (1991-2000) – “M2” (2001-2010) – “M3” (2011-2024). The cars must be regularly registered and inspected, equipped exclusively with tires approved for road circulation. Race-ready cars are excluded. When drawing up the rankings, no coefficient based on the age of the car will be applied. Participants will be assigned race numbers from n. 401 onwards, based on the age of the cars themselves. Special category and overall rankings will be drawn up which will lead to the awarding of category prizes and the “Coppa Nuvolari GT 2024”.
