The plan for the Simplified Logistics Zone of La Spezia was presented

The Liguria Region has the strategic development plan for the Simplified Logistics Zone was approved “Port and Rearport of La Spezia”, ​​drawn up in collaboration with the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea. This plan was sent to the competent ministries for the investigation necessary for the issuing of the Establishing Decree, in accordance with the provisions of article 6 of Prime Ministerial Decree number 40/2024.

The Simplified Logistics Zone will include the Ligurian municipalities of Arcola, Follo, La Spezia, Santo Stefano Magra and Vezzano Ligure, as well as five Emilian municipalities, as per the agreement signed with Emilia Romagna in May. The overall area will cover 339.24 hectares in Liguria and 148.06 hectares in the Emilian hinterland. It will have a duration of seven years, renewable for another seven.

The regional councilor for Economic Development with responsibility for Ports and Logistics, Alessio Piana, underlined the importance of the project: “The Liguria Region and the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea have promptly worked to conclude the preparatory process for the establishment of the Zls and to finally be able to complete this project of attracting investments and employment. With this resolution, following the discussions initiated with the municipalities and local stakeholders, we present the overall surfaces of the area to the competent ministries. An important step towards arriving, hopefully by the end of the year, at the establishing ministerial decree which will allow companies wishing to invest to be able to benefit from simplified and accelerated procedures for authorizations or permits”.

Mario Sommariva, president of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea, explains that “it is an instrument of great value for attract investments and create new jobs. The ideal tool to give a new impulse to the port areas, starting from Santo Stefano di Magra, as well as for integration with the logistical and industrial development areas of the province of Parma. A decisive step is therefore being taken for the development and innovation prospects of our territory and the entire port system”.
