Venice flies: Qatar arrives, then the direct line to China. All the ‘long haul’ flights of the third Italian intercontinental airport

1After watching in the last two years American Airlines and Delta Airlines double their connections to the United Statesthe airport Marco Polo of Venice consolidates its role as the country’s third intercontinental gatewaywith the return starting from 12 June of the connection with Doha, operated by Qatar Airways.

The Gulf company had not been seen in the lagoon since spring of 2020, when he canceled his connections due to the onset of the Covid epidemic. Just over four years later, passengers from the North West will regain their direct connection with what is the second most important hub in the Gulf.

The service to Doha will be guaranteed on a daily basis by a two-class Boeing 787-8, with 22 seats in Business Class (non-Q-Suite) and 232 seats in Economy. Starting from June 12, flight QR126 will take off from Marco Polo at 4.50pm to arrive in Doha at 11.10pm. From there, it will obviously then be possible to continue towards dozens of destinations in Asia, Africa and Oceania. In the reverse direction, flight QR125 will leave Doha at 9am to land in Venice shortly after 2pm. Venice thus becomes the third city served in Italy by Qatar Airways, after Rome and Milan.

With her, they will rise to seven non-European companies present in Venice and with Doha the intercontinental destinations connected to the Venetian city without stopping will become eleven.

Leading the group of non-European carriers is Delta Airlineswhich operates from Marco Polo in the summer season a total of 17 weekly flights: 10 to its mega-hub in Atlanta (with Three-class Boeing 767-300ER – Business, Premium Economy and Economy) and 7 to New York JFK (always with Boeing 767-300ER set up in three classes of service). Departures for Atlanta take off every day at 11.05am and three times a week at 9.30am, while take-off for JFK is scheduled for 1.40pm.

Also American Airlines fly towards two US citiesbut does so in both cases on a daily basis for a total of 14 weekly flights, 7 to Philadelphia and 7 to Chicago: for the east coast hub we depart at 12.15pm on board a three-class Boeing 787-8 (Business, Premium Economy and Economy), while the flight to the metropolis of Illinois takes place at 2.50 pm on board a larger three-class Boeing 787-9 (Business, Premium Economy and Economy).

The third big stars and stripes, United Airlines, instead it serves its Newark hub daily with a three-class Boeing 767-400 (Business, Premium Economy and Economy), with flight UA169 leaving the Venetian lagoon at 11.05.

For North America you can also travel with two Canadian companies: Air Canada and Air Transat. The first connects Venice with Toronto and Montreal 4 and 3 times a week, respectivelywith Airbus A330-300 set up in Business, premium Economy and Economy; Flight AC 817 takes off towards Toronto at 12.40pm, while towards the capital of French-speaking Canada AC819 leaves at 1pm.

Also Air Transat serves from Venice, Toronto and Montreal, with 3 weekly flights to each destination which will become four in the months of July, August and September; on both routes you fly board Airbus A330-200 equipped with a Business and an Economy cabin.

In the opposite direction, towards the east, you travel not only with Qatar Airways but also with Emirates: the Dubai company is present at Marco Polo every day with one of its Boeing 777-300ERs set up in three classes and it is the only one to offer a First Class cabin from Venice, alongside those of Business and Economy. Flight EK136 takes off at 3.35pm and, as in the case of Qatar, then offers passengers connections to Asia, Africa and Oceania.

Starting from September 26thThen, in East Asia you can also fly non-stop, thanks to the connection that China Eastern Airlines will open with Shanghai. Flight MU786, which is currently not yet open for bookings, will operate on a three-weekly basisdeparting every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 11.15am and arriving in China the following morning.
