Multidisciplinary sport continues to speak Sicilian. After the national title in the Cultore duathlon, Sicily welcomes the new one Italian champion Of Aquathlonthe Alcamese John Lombard. The athlete, registered for the Magma Team, won the AI title Italian championships Of Aquathlon Youth which took place in Montesilvano (PE) on 1 and 2 June. The event took place on the Aldo Moro seafront and saw the participation of over 1000 young athletes. Numerous FITRI officials were also present, including the Technical Director of youth activities, Alberto Casadei, and the Technical Delegate, Claudio Di Dionisio.
THE TWO DAYS OF MONTESILVANO
The Pescara event followed a very specific schedule. The Youth Aquathlon and the Youth Triathlon races were held on Saturday 1 June Puppies (Cu) e Mini Puppies (MCu). On Sunday 2nd, however, it was the turn of the Italian Triathlon Cup, the Cu/MCu aquathlon and the triathlon for the categories Youth TO female, Boys and Beginners.
Ready to go and Sicily is immediately the protagonist. As mentioned at the beginning, Giovanni Lombardo wins, with a time of 29:15, the Italian Aquathlon title in the Juniorovertaking none other than Riccardo Cultore (Pol. Mimmo Ferrito, 29:33) e Edoardo Del Carlo (Team Star, 29:40). We remind you that this specialty takes place in the running, swimming and running formula; and in the case of this category, the athletes were engaged, on the seafront of the Abruzzo city, for 2.5 km of initial running, 1 km of swimming and another 2.5 km of running.
The duo composed of Lombardo and Cultore never ceases to surprise. In fact, the two also became protagonists the following day Cup Italy. In this case it was a triathlon race, in version SuperSprint, where each athlete had to complete 400 m of swimming, 10 km of cycling (i.e. 3 laps of the track) and 2.5 km of running. At the end of an arrival in heart-pounding sprint the two Sicilians took second and third place. In front of them, with a time of 27:05 we find the aforementioned Del Carlo who overtook Cultore and Lombardo by 3 (27:08) and 6 seconds (27:11) respectively.

The group was also accompanied to Montesilvano by the President of the committee Mario Lombardo and the Youth Manager John Jordan, who commented on the two days of competition in this way. “These are important awards that demonstrate, once again and amply, the quality of our young athletes. The superb work done by the technicians of the Sicilian teams was also rewarded. Exceptional podiums that should not only be seen as a point of arrival, but as an international launching pad. As professionals, we are thrilled to have been able to see, over the course of a couple of years, the sporting and human growth of these boys, their dedication and their results“.
