Signed by the government commissioner and the mayor, it promotes the creation of neighborhood groups

The commissioner of the Government of Trento, Filippo Santarelli, signed yesterday with the mayor of the municipality of Lona Lases a participatory security protocol which regulates in particular the establishment and activity of neighborhood groups.

The agreement provides for the establishment of organized groups – at least two – led by a coordinator, to provide, via an instant messaging system, constant updating on the state of security in the country.

The government commissioner will undertake to launch the project and monitor compliance with its implementation, while the municipality of Lona Lases will encourage the establishment of the groups and will participate in training meetings in collaboration with the police forces, will keep the list of groups updated and of the contact persons and will prepare signs to control the territory, which will have the dual purpose of raising attention on the one hand, and dissuading any bad intentions on the other.

Santarelli reiterated the importance of the agreement in the context of participatory security tools which provide for the active involvement of citizens and the promotion of widespread legality, increasing the levels of awareness on local problems: «the establishment of neighborhood groups is a practice already tried and tested successfully in Trento, Riva del Garda and Rovereto. In this way, Lona Lases will be able to turn the page: from today we are no longer talking about the mafia but about participatory security.”
