“We waited twenty-four hours, trusting in a clarification from the Administration on the public complaint which alleged serious irregularities in the management of the tender for the works for the former Piazza Edestibili market. The clarification did not arrive. We do not have the documents on which the Altrabenevento Association based its claims and therefore we are not able to establish whether the latter are justified or not.
We know, however, that these are serious accusations: serious because, if founded, they would certainly constitute a matter of criminal liability on which the judiciary will have to shed light; equally serious because, if unfounded, they would seriously damage the reputation of public officials and the image of the Municipality itself.
In one case, as in the other, one thing is certain: on such delicate matters which in any case arouse alarm in public opinion, silence is not justified, since reasons of transparency and correctness would recommend an immediate investigation of the facts and a position taken. net by the Administration in office”.
