Terrifying broadside: Perez is furious

Sergio Perez is furious. The statements made by the Red Bull driver at the end of the Imola GP are emblematic

Yet another triumph Max Verstappen. This time the Dutchman won the Imola GP, for the third consecutive edition. A weekend started badly for the Dutchman who then put everything back in order in Qualifying and the Race. The same cannot be said of his teammate, Sergio Perez.

The driver, in fact, was eliminated at the end of Q2. Starting in eleventh place he knew that it would be impossible to say the least to make a significant comeback in a race which, from the first moment, proved to be complex. Everything then got complicated with an off-track exit. In the end Perez finished eighth, a truly disappointing placing for Red Bull.

During an interview given to Dazn’s Spanish colleagues, Perez commented on his race, launching a criticism that did not go unnoticed at all.

Red Bull, what a broadside from Perez: here’s who he’s angry with

Sergio Perez, in Imola, can only be disappointed with his performance given that he managed to recover only three positions from eleventh place in the standings, therefore finishing in eighth, almost a minute away from Max Verstappen.

Next weekend he will have the opportunity to make up for it Montecarlo. The objective is to provide a performance worthy of his car, on a circuit where a good qualification is fundamental for the final result.

As previously announced, the 34-year-old native of Guadalajara spoke to ‘Dazn’ Spain: “I’m sure we could have definitely done better in Imola. Maybe we could have gotten much closer to the Mercedes and, consequently, put them under pressure but we didn’t succeed“.

Perez made no secret that he didn’t like the Imola circuit at all: “It would still have been very difficult to do better than that, but I think this track is not made for Formula 1. With the cars we have and after shortening the DRS zone, overtaking was very difficult and we needed a very significant delta in the tires. Overall by qualifying in 11th place, we had already ruined our weekend.”

An important criticism from Perez on the track named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari, linked to Formula 1 by a contract expiring in 2025. We will see if it will be further confirmed in a Formula 1 World Championship which, also in the future, wants to open up to other circuits.
