REGGIO CALABRIA The Azione Calabria family continues to expand, also gaining the membership of Raffaele Sainato, former regional councilor in the then Santelli legislature and former Deputy Mayor of Locri: this was announced by the secretary and the regional president, Francesco De Nisi and Giuseppe Graziano, announcing upcoming and new memberships in the Calenda party and showing great enthusiasm for the work that the provincial secretary of Reggio Calabria, Santo Suraci, has been carrying out in recent months. «We are doing an excellent job – underlines the secretary Santo Suraci – which is infusing the Action project with new life and new energy. Sainato’s arrival represents a turning point in the political dynamics in Calabria because from this membership starts a more organic constitution of the party throughout the provincial and even regional territory. And this thanks to the work of many members and supporters of our political reality who see in Carlo Calenda and Mara Carfagna, represented in Calabria by Francesco De Nisi and Giuseppe Graziano, the points of reference for rebuilding a progressive and moderate action for the leadership of the Village. Raffaele Sainato, 55 years old, is a professional in the banking world where he has always held managerial roles. In March 2020 he entered the Regional Council, among the ranks of the Majority, and the following July assumed the leadership of the Fifth Regional Commission for Reforms. As a young man he was an active militant of the Christian Democratic Youth Movement. He entered the world of institutions in 2006 when he was elected, for the first time, municipal councilor of Locri, then holding the position of councilor for urban planning, environmental policies, human resources and budget until 2011. In 2013, then, in the second council term he was also Deputy Mayor.
