Long interview with Calciomercato.com’s microphones Riccardo Serpieriformer captain of the Lazio Spring coached by Simone Inzaghi. He currently works as a warehouse worker and plays in Eccellenza, but he has never forgotten his adventure in the capital and his relationship with the now technical of Inter. Below are his statements on the matter.
“My career? In two years I broke my cruciate twice and my meniscus twice, I feel like saying that you also need luck in life. I gave it my all, it must probably be said that perhaps I wasn’t up to it. But life goes on. Inter Scudetto? I don’t deny that I’m an Inter fan, so I’m happy for both him and me. Inzaghi deserves it, he is a very good person and I have many good memories with him. At Lazio he was an empathetic person who got to know the players and managed to get 100% out of everyone. A great manager. In training he had fun, he played matches with us and when he didn’t win he even got annoyed a little. We teased him because there was confidence, The way he speaks made us laugh: he has this big voice with a Venetian accent, I remember that Lombardi imitated him very well.”
“I was his captain, he asked me if there was something wrong with the group, advice or an opinion on how I saw my teammates. We had a good team, we came from the championship the year before even if unfortunately in that season we lost the championship final against Longo’s Torino. The best memory? The Italian Cup won against Fiorentina, but in general the experience with Inzaghi was positive from every point of view. I saw him as an older brother. In 2014 we participated in the Viareggio Tournament (won by Pippo Inzaghi’s Milan, ed.), before the competition started Inzaghi told me that if we won he would give me a Porsche Cayenne. It was a pleasure to have a coach like him. Even when I got hurt he was always there for me with a phone call and a word of comfort that is never taken for granted and is always good. This year we didn’t speak, I didn’t write to him even after the championship so as not to disturb him. Last year I asked him if he could help me get tickets for a Champions League match and he told me he would give me a hand. Even these small gestures make it clear what kind of person Simone Inzaghi is.”
