PDo you want to explain to an idiot the difference between the bike you rode last year, the GP22, and this 2023 one?

“It’s not too different. But the whole front part changes and the way to stop the bike changes: the engine changes, the output changes, the lowering changes. Ok, if you think about it, it’s quite different. The thing that has changed the most is the feeling that the front part gives me.”

With VR46 you have signed a one-year contract. What is the best possible scenario for you, racing for a factory team or riding a factory bike here, with this team?

“I aspire to go to an official team, with an official bike. But of course, now it’s a bit early and I’ve struggled a bit up until today, so my primary objective is to recover: I’m not thinking too much about the future, I want to go fast.”

After third place on Sunday in Jerez, do you feel like you’re back?

“I’m very happy with the result, we needed a good race. For me, however, I will be back when I can reconfirm myself, before that it’s difficult. Jerez was a nice weekend, but everything can change in an instant.”

From 2027 MotoGP will change its technical regulations: it seems there will be less aerodynamics, power and devices. How would you like the 2027 MotoGP?

“I really like the bike as it is now. I like the wings, the lowers. I like that it goes so fast, in the end when I arrived in MotoGP the bikes were these, I don’t know how it was before. But here, I don’t think I’m in the position to say how I would like the bike, even if I would like it to stay that way.”

Franco Morbidelli says that of all the things you do with the Academy – motocross, Ranch, Ohvale, karting – he prefers the Ranch and karting. You?

“I really like the Ranch because as well as for the training itself it is a place of the Madonna. It’s great to go there. I really like karting though, I always prefer motorbikes.”

“Ah, god. If I have to compare a day at Mugello or Misano… clearly Mugello or Misano win”.
