L’AQUILA – “No patient currently being treated at the Territorial Oncology of ASL 1 will be denied treatment, a fundamental right of every individual. There was only one review of the protocols, updated according to the most recent scientific evidence and aligned with the best international criteria”.

The professor declares it Luciano Mutti, responsible for the Oncology Unit of the L’Aquila hospital, regarding the concerns of some patients, reported by AbruzzoWeb, regarding alleged sudden changes in their therapeutic treatments. (Here is the link)

“It is important to underline that the therapeutic protocols have recently been reviewed and updated in order to guarantee patients the best treatment options available – explains Mutti – As part of the reorganization resulting from the establishment of the regional oncology network, a more rational division of tasks: the territorial Oncology of ASL 1 will continue to follow patients after their discharge, with constant and important support”.

In relation to the complaint of some patients, who said they were “forced” to go elsewhere to continue treatment, Mutti underlines: “No patient should seek treatment elsewhere. We reiterate that all oncological treatments at ASL 1 are provided with the utmost professionalism and attention to the patient’s well-being. We have actively worked to redevelop oncology treatments, adapting them to international standards and current legislation. This ongoing commitment aims to ensure that patients receive the most effective and safe treatment possible.”
