on stage yesterday were mentally disabled, elderly people and volunteers

Guests and volunteers once again side by side, this time on a stage, thanks to the accommodation community’s initiative “Palcoscenico 180”.

Everything originates from and can be traced back to Volta Pagina Social Cooperative, a non-profit organization of social utility, established in 2012 as a type A cooperative, therefore to offer social and health services, community accommodation, residential centers and support for the mentally disabled and the elderly. La Volta Pagina manages three company branches including Palcoscenico 180, a social welfare activity for mentally disabled people under 65.

Volta Pagina supports the welfare service with the socio-cultural animation service, aimed at guaranteeing, through various interventions, the stimulation of everyone’s abilities. Among the activities there is also theater with the community “Stage 180” which highlights that play of roles, those masks that we are normally used to wearing every day, but which the mentally disabled person does not wear it because he does not experience the contrast between being and appearing. Acting therefore becomes a fulfilling activity, which showcases hidden skills and puts everyone on the same level.

Right at the end of a journey that lasted 7 months, volunteers and guests staged “Casa Campagna”, a brilliant comedy in 2 acts written by Fabio Massimo Iacobelli.

The show was preceded by greetings from Martina Farruggio, legal representative of the Volta Pagina Cooperative and from the mayor of Vittoria, Francesco Aiello who thanked the volunteers for their precious support and for ensuring that the first business by disadvantaged people which today represents the first company in the province of Ragusa and Eastern Sicily registered on the contracts and procurement portals of the Public Administrations of the Ragusa area.
