San Giorgio, magistrate Maresca meets students: ‘The State always wins’

“The State always wins”. This is the title of the book written by the anti-mafia magistrate Catello Maresca, which will become a tool to guide the young generations of students and to send them the message that the mafia can be defeated if civil society is committed to spreading the culture of legality because, as Giovanni Falcone said: “Illegality is fought starting from school.”

With the Mayor Giorgio Zinno and the Councilor Giuseppe Giordano, the magistrate met numerous students from the city’s lower secondary schools in the Righetti Foundry of Villa Bruno in San Giorgio a Cremano accompanied by their teachers to whom he told of the spectacular capture, in his underground bunker, of the Casalesi boss Michele Zagaria, head of one of the most dangerous and bloodthirsty clans in the world. A courageous magistrate who, together with his men, wanted to participate personally in the difficult operation “… Judge Maresca comes down – it was said at the time of access – I know, I know, learned man, learned man, the State always wins, I know – replied Zagaria –”

A Magistrate proudly a man of the institutions, of great experience but also of humanity. He captured the attention of the boys by describing in great detail Zagaria’s way of living relegated to an underground bunker, without seeing the light of day, without taking in clean air, essentially without a real life but leading a dark, sad and also full of fears because essentially the bosses fear being captured and luckily they are, and therefore live with the awareness that reality is very different from what the criminals themselves make people imagine it to be.

An interesting debate also took place between the Magistrate and the school children who asked interesting questions, including what type of work is carried out by an anti-mafia magistrate or how do you live having an escort constantly at your side or what emotion do you feel during the arrest of the boss.

“We tried to do a double operation – declared Mayor Zinno – to tell the truth about the Camorra and strengthen the principles of legality in young people who in this phase of their lives are training and choosing their future. We will continue virtuous paths like this with other events as well.
