Meeting for fumaroles – ReteIblea

A new meeting of the Services Conference was held, chaired by
Prefect, Dr. Giuseppe Ranieri, in the presence of the Regional Councilor of the Territory and
of the Environment, Hon. Elena Pagana, to examine the intervention measures for prevention and
fight against the indiscriminate abandonment of waste and, in particular, the initiatives to be implemented to

The conference – attended by the Commissioner of Police, the Provincial Commanders of the Carabinieri and
Guardia di Finanza, the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Free Consortium of Ragusa, the Mayors of
province, the representatives of the Provincial Health Authority and of the ARPA, the President of the
company SRR-ATO 7 and the representatives of Sicindustria, Coldiretti and Confagricoltura – ha
explored the possible solutions, both temporary and emergency, to be implemented with
immediacy, as well as the organic interventions to be implemented in the medium term and already outlined in
during the previous meetings, examining its technical feasibility and financial sustainability
liaison with the competent regional bodies.
In particular, the need to authorize the activity of the composting plant was highlighted
of Vittoria, located in c.da Pozzo Bollente and adjacent to the disused landfill, which could provide a
first response to the delivery of municipal waste; while for the green residues (“fratte”) produced
in the CD. transformed strip, awaiting the construction of a suitable composting plant, yes
it was decided to provide collection centers in the various territorial areas of the municipalities involved.
These last interventions will have to take into account the theoretical production volume of the “fratta”,
on average ascertained over the years, to be communicated to the Region so that the
necessary storage areas. This emergency solution would allow, together with
planned and intensified checks at the “greenhouses”, to effectively combat the phenomenon

The Regional Councilor guaranteed the widest commitment and availability and also highlighted
the possibility of accessing specific benefits for companies that decide to implement choices
eco-sustainable, including the replacement of plastic supports, used in crops, with other ones
compostable material, drawing up specific targeted ecological transition projects that can be financed
with the resources of the Sicily PSR (Rural Development Programme).
A new meeting has therefore been scheduled to be held within the first fifteen days of next month,
to examine the requested data and therefore proceed quickly with the creation of the stations
collected for the provision of the so-called. “thicket”.
